Dried Fish Fried Rice

Dried_Fish

I was wondering what to write in my Blog in the new year.I had no events interesting to present which I can publish on my journal but we know that life is full of surprise, so on a particular evening I came home hungry and my friend was in home listening to something interesting to him and I said ‘Hi’ to him, but normally an ‘Hi’ does not evoke any responses from people of same sex even when they are your friends and roomies. But when I said ‘Hi’ my friend gave me a surprise saying that he has some Chinese fried rice for me which i was sure was a left over. Still the hunger has greater power which made my mouth water, but my Brain said ‘NO NO NO’ because it is still recovering from the shock what it received from the Chinese fried rice when I had it last time, and my intestine was speaking out loud to me to spare him from filling with the noxious Chinese fried rice (he does not like the HOT chillies and spices in there )which my friends normally get from an Chinese restaurant nearby for me. I said a big Thank You as I don’t want the fried rice to ruin my Friday evening by making me to sit the whole evening at the leisure room, but this friend of mine was pursuing me to eat it and I asked him what kind of fried rice is it and which store is it from as my heart and tongue was not allowing me to skip the offer. He threw a big surprise saying it is ‘Dried fish fried rice’ which would make people yuck, but believe me it is a very delicious one if you like fishes to eat. Man O Man. I thought that this friend of mine has set a booby trap and I m ready to fall. I showed some restraint but my tongue would not now allow me to hold back from tasting the fried rice. So I just took a morsel of rice and thought that it would satisfy the glands on the tongue but like a oasis in the middle of desert I felt something great within me when the Dried fish fried rice slipped through the throat, my hand would not now stop from taking another handful of rice because some how my tongue gained the upper hand in controlling my hand at that moment which was very surprising to me.

My brain too got  mesmerized by the taste and I started eating and my olfactory lobes where in cloud nine because they got hold of the wafting from the dried fish fried rice. To make sure I was following some basic etiquette I stopped eating and I told my friend that I m not eating the whole of the left over but he can have it for the next day to eat. He was a gentle man and I think he somehow sensed my full love with the food and he pushed me to eat the tasty fried rice. I rushed to finish it up but when another friend came on the way I was mindful to say to him to taste the food. He was like this food is OK,but to me it was a very special tasty food.

Huum… Life is full of surprises and the meaning of happiness and satisfaction is personal. I think that small unexpected joys and grace like this make our life wonderful and worth living. Folks this friends fried rice made my evening a better one than what I expected it to become. It was pessimism turned to memorable evening !!

Note: Myself eating the weird ‘Dried fried rice’ for the first time in life though I have previously ate dried fish curry at back home in India.

I had Good salted fish fried rice from this hotel. U can check it if you are interested.
